I saw several places in NC called Cook Out. Has anyone stopped here. I gues from what I've read the burgers are supposed to taste as if you cooked them on your grill.

I know it's a little late (like a year after the original post) but they recently opened up one of these great little drive thru only places near us here in NC. They have absolutely great milk shakes for a reasonable priced. Burgers are ok too...just good, quick roadfood. My question is - who owns this franchise group? I have tried to find company information on the internet and cannot seem to find any info on it.

Yes cblomax, the milk skakes are darn good at Cook Out! (Used to live in Greensboro) My wife was a sucker for their flurries. I liked the malts.

There is a chain called "Backyard Burgers" that makes claims of tasting just like the ones you do at home. They make a pretty good burger, but are a bit pricey compared to the big chains, and even to Steak and Shake or Culvers. I know there are a couple In Louisville and I have seen them in some other MidWestern Towns.

Mayor Al, Backyard has opened up about 5-6 locations in my area stretching from Fort Walton to Panama City...the hook on their TV ads (besides the dad blowing up his grill and sending a thick cloud of smoke into the air ) is that all their burgers are 100% Angus beef

Well that sure helps. Makes it easier for me to decide to try one next time I am in the Triangle area of NC.
