Just moved back to South Louisiana,after being gone for 25 years. This is truly the Disneyland of Food. Been here a month & still have over 135 plate lunch places to try. Returants I suggest are Don's Seafood-Lafayette Robin's Seafood in Henderson Richards in Abbeville Dwyers in Lafayette for Breakfast, lumch La Fonda in Lafayette for Mexican Alesis in Lagayette for Pizza I could go on and on, if ever in the neighbothood & need a tour guide let me know.

Maybe not in south Louisiana, but in Alexandria, is Lucile's (sp?) still great for breakfast? I think it's on the main road in a strip shopping center.

Is Heberts Cafe in Houma still in business? I started going there in 1978 but I haven't been back in 5 years. Best down home cooking around. And their "catfish Hebert" is unbelievable. Fresh fried catfish topped with a crab sauce...HHMMMMMMM Goood!

Those sound great but I'm in Breaux Bridge, so I get to most of the South Louisiana spots, but not as far east as New Orleans or Houma.

I have stopped in Breaux Bridge a few times also. I dont remember the name of the place but they are a crawfish processing/seafood place. Small white concrete block building not too far off of the interstate. I could see a bunch of ladies in the back peeling crawfish tails for packing.
LOL, they had gar balls there...... I wasn't sure I wanted to eat gar balls but after they told me what they were I tried them. Pretty good! (and you people get your minds out of the gutter)
Also, I went to a processor near Breaux Bridge that sold de-boned chickens and ducks stuffed with such things as, shrimp and rice, crawfish tail and rice, alligator and rice, cornbread stuffing etc.. I brought back 15 chickens and ducks to put in the freezer and they were so good.
