Liguid Thanksgiving!? Mon, 11/8/04 4:22 PM (permalink)
The Jones Soda Company in Seattle is at it again---not only are they bringing back Turkey and Gravy soda but they are also maketing a Thanksgiving 5-pack --Turkey and gravy,Mashed Potatos with butter,Green Bean Cassarole,Cranberry and Fruitcake!!!---comes complete with utensils---a straw and a ????toothpick???? for about $15 in the limit edition 5 pack! Seems like this could lead to some strange mixed drinks too!---Vodka and cranberry of course--but then lets see---Jack Danials with Turkey and gravy on the rocks!!??

Thanks, Bushie, for letting us know we can go to Target this season without encountering Salvation Army solicitation. While I believe at least some of this organization's work is helpful, the Salvation Army seems to me to be part of The Problem we have in the United States with some people trying to destroy the separation of church and state mandated in the US Constitution, and to replace our government with a pseudotheocracy.

Hmmm, If Target would only carry TOMATOes then I could boycott them for TWO reasons.

Our NBC station in Louisville has run the weird Thanksgiving soda story for several nights. Tonight they sampled the mashed potato flavor on the 5:30 pm news. It got a series of YUCK'S for review comments on the set.

The mashed potato sode intrigues me. We might have to do a taste test here at my tv station!

The Sundancer is not trying to be funny but I have had a liquid Thanksgiving every Thanksgiving for the last forty Five years. . For that and many other things, I have always been thankful.

They had these "Thanksgiving Soda" drinks on "Regis & Kelly" (no, I am not a regular watcher; having 3 channels to surf here in the hills means you watch what's on...) yesterday. Regis was being a sport and trying a swig of each, but Kelly was turning green and went into a hissyfit after tasting the first flavor. I gather they were less than palatable....

I dont know what they taste like but i have had alot of other flavors from them that were really good---overall they make a nice product and every now and then they throw a curve.
well i guess this liquid thanksgiving is better the the last one i celebrated----i believe it was around 1972 and there was alot of turkey consumed---Wild Turkey--i think about a quaart and a hal for me.along with a whole pumpkin pie that evidendly was meant for alot of folks--i THINK some folks were mad at me about it but i dont remember alot of details. I now stick with ROASTED variety!! and one PEICE of pumkin pie is plenty----as long as theors a mincemeat to go with it!

Bushie, it is possible to disagree with someone without being insulting, and please remember you brought this up by suggesting you will boycott a store because they don't allow the Salvation Army. You will note that I did state they have a mission of helping the poor. Apparently they have other missions. In many localities, the Salvation Army receives government funds to provide these services. Here in San Francisco the SA wanted to continue to do so, but openly violated our city's civil rights laws. When the City and County withdrew their funding, they acted like the funds paid them for these services were an entitlement, and that the C&C didn't have the "right" to deny them funding. Guess what? The SA gets no funding here, because they feel they have a right to discriminate against gay people as employees as well as clients.

On a more visceral level, the SA has a training center in the heart of Chicago's gay community. Every year after the Gay Pride parade passes by on the street outside their complex (with the 10-foot-high stone wall), the SA sends people out in uniform to "disinfect" their wall and the sidewalk outside it, making a great show of all, and clearly meant as an insult. Why should I feel positively about an organization that does things like that?

Apologies to Tiki and others, but I thought you should know, since the topic was brought up in such a harsh way, why some people don't support the SA.

I heard about these Jones' sodas on the food channel, the folks they got to try them were brave and very polite BUT as for me,I'll stick with Moxie or even a egg cream(after the world runs out of beer).

I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to my pepper mill to work through the small opening on top of the soda bottle.

What in Blue Blazes do you mean about adding pepper??? The chef has properly seasoned this gastronomic delight and no additional seasoning is required. Ever! No salt or pepper or ketchup is allowed on the table....

Go to a department store's cosmetics counter and get a little bitty perfume funnel.

There is this silly little spray bottle for vermouth that you then spray on top of your martini, and it includes a wee metal funnel so you can fill it with your vermouth and that should be just what you need.

The Jones Soda tastes pretty good mixed with vodka! Especially the green and pink ones! (not sure of their names)They were giving the soda away on Market Square in Knoxville after a concert and we grabbed some-not too bad!
