Where do you draw the line on how much you pay for a sandwich?4.95 to 6.95 is what I say. There is a new Deli in Town, its the only deli, and the people are from N.Y.well anyway their sandwiches start around 5.95 up to 7.95.But heres the kicker, anything you want on it costs fifty cents the time you get thru ordering a sandwich its gonna run you around 9.95.Its not like they are giagantic sandwiches either. You can get a good lunch special around here for 4.95.Needless to say the locals are shunning the place.I had a Pastrami and a drink and it was 11.95!That was the last one I will eat there.

I haven't been to a real deli in years that has sandwiches for under $9.00. I paid $10.70 a few weeks ago at Langer's in L.A. for a pastrami and chopped liver on rye------with no sides!

Have you ever been to Zingermans in Ann Arbor?? All sanwiches are $10.00 and only come with a pickle. I couldn't believe this place charged this much with also being on a college campus. Food is good but $10.00 a pop...not so much.

For me, just my own personal bias, I don't like to spend over $5 - $6 for a sandwich. OK, I'll go $7. That's about my limit.

How about $100. for a Kobe cheesesteak? It's true. Available in Philadelphia of all places.

            Benji's in Milwaukee gets $6-$10 for a sandwich . . . but it's worth it.

I used to eat at Arnies in Grand Rapids (West Side) years ago... But you pay 7 or 8 bucks for a sandwich and only be able to only eat 1/2 of it... Granted they started out with Texas style cut bread, but then there was a good pound of toppings in there also... I cant stuff away as much as I could when I was in my 20's, but they where the best at the time! Probably should go try them out again.... Considering they have a place on my side of town now...

As for is it worth it? I guess it depends on the quality of product they put in the sandwich... And your personal taste prefrences. If I pay 8 bucks for a sandwich, get 2 meals out of it, It's built to perfection, that only comes out to 4 bucks a meal! Well worth it in my book!

Ive paid 12 bucks for a great sandwich and ive paid 1.99 for a great sandwich and ive paid $9 for a terrible sandwich and 1.49 for a terrible sandwich. You never really know if it was worth it till youve eaten it. If it was---makes no difference what you paid for it--esp if youd do it again!

PS---that great $1.99 sandwich---BIG surprise--late at night-after seeing "Ray"---didnt get dinner-stopped at gas station at the Creek Nation Casino and found a GREAT pimeinto cheese sandwich! I got it only out of desperation and was not at all prepared foe how GOOD it was!!!Im gonna stop by next time i need gas--its $1.73 there now--and see if it was a fluke--if not--its a great stop on the way7 to the crappie lake for lunch!

I agree with tiki. I have paid too much and got too little. Other times I'd have happily paid more for what I got. I don't need to tell you which places I go back to. It's a free country. They are free to charge as they please, and I am free to decide to go or not.

I am so glad that Langers in LA is still open. I have not been there in years, what great food. Rex in E, SD.

As a point of comparison, does anyone know how much a Muffeletta at Central Grocery in NO costs?

I'll pay $10 if it is a GREAT sandwiche.
