I have been reading recipes here and there are some great ones. I am own and operate a Fan Based website for a country music artist and we are in the process of putting a cookbook together with proceeds going to charity. Is there any rules here that these can't be published?

You gotta be careful with cookbooks as copyrights are a major concern as most recipies come from someplace.

The argument that they are okay, here on this site, probably falls under the fair-use provisions of copyrights -- but I am far from an expert. (And the fact that there is little aguable damage to whomever has equity in anything we paste in.)

I was involved in a fund-raising cookbook http://www.wheelz.net and the woman who pioneered it had everyone who did a submission sign a permission/waiver form.

I am no expert -- those are the main things to at least be thinking of.

why don't you email Stephen(forum admin.) and ask about giving a credit to the sterns and the website
in return for use? It might be worth a shout out.

Thats a great idea!! I will do that. I ran across the forum looking for recipes for Christmas. Much to my surprise there are some great ones. However, I would never do anything illegal. I will contact him and see what he thinks.
          Thanks Bill.

Now dont quote me on this one... But my research in the past has told me that you can post / print any recipe you want. You can not get a copywrite on a recipe. BUT, if you copy someone elses wording you could get in trouble.

Definitely check with Stephen & Sterns, but if you're asking if you can "promote" a book here with the proceeds going to charity, I don't think there would be any problem with that. (Based on previous experiences with this site.)

Self-promotion is discouraged, but a good cookbook that helps others would probably be welcome.

(Understand this is just my opinion.)

I was thinking more about promoting Roadfood in the cookbook, but if it all connects, it forms a circle, and that's good.... Country Music and Roadfood certainly seem related, if not kissin' cousins.
