Going to Scotland for 3 weeks,self-drive tour primarily the areas of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sterling for a week, then north and more west to the Isle of Skye, Applecross Pennisula, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for B&B's, restuarants, pubs, music venues, etc. Thank you in advance.

Forget the BBQ and everything great in American roadfood. Go for the distilleries and have a "wee dock n dorrah" for all of us stay at homes.

Hello there: I certainly envy you for your upcoming trip! Sounds like a great time. I suggest that you check-in with Scotty over at About.com. He's the moderator for the Scotland forum. If he isn't still there, post your question in their forum. Have a great trip. Bob RAllen5835

A little late for me to suggest places to eat, but we sure did enjoy haggis and a dram of whiskey. Also, the breakfasts are just awesome. In Edinburgh and Glasgow, we saw these shops that served a wide variety of deep fried foods, including deep fried chocolate bars and just about anything else you could imagine could be put into a deep fryer.

Try the kippers. It's smoked herring cut wide open in half and served as breakfast, with fried eggs sunny side up. YUMMMIE!!!

Last months Bon Appetit or Food and Wine was dedicated to Scotland. A trip to the library might turn up all the stuff you are looking for.

If you are thinking of stopping by St Andrews, don't miss getting some absolutely FABULOUS italian ice cream from Janetta's. It's a can't-miss experience. For great italian eats in Scotland (don't laugh -- these really are good!): Fratelli Sarti - synonymous with classic Ligurian and Tuscan food Address: 121 Bath Street, Glasgow Tel: 0141 204 0440 Restorante Tinelli - fantastic food Address: 139 Easter Road, Edinburgh Tel: 0131 652 1932
