Pannerra/St. Louis Bread Company

All hype that doesn't deliver!! Over priced skimpy sandwhich on tasteless bread. $5.99 base price for a "sandwich" the meat was almost non-existant. Wife and I each got a sandwich. She got a cup of soup. Two small ice teas. $20.00 bucks!!! RIP-OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a bit overpriced, but I have to admit I enjoy their forest mushroom soup. I think that Atlanta Bread Company is worse. The one in Maryville, Tn consistently runs out of certain items-like bread!!!!! I have placed my order, sat down and at 2 seperate visits have been called back to the counter to be told that they are out of a particular bread I ordered for my sandwich or just ran out of the soup I wanted. It is very poorly managed. I have written to the company and received an satisfactory response. I won't be going there anymore.

I will try a place ONCE. That's it. No second chances. LOL I tend to stick to Mom and Pop operations and not the chains.

If you didn't like Pannerra, maybe you should give Panera a try.

i agree..they are a little 'pricey' but you can't beat that 'bread bowl' for soup.. and they have the best wisconsin cheese soup.. and the best cheesy tater soup and....... well -- sometimes i look to go there for a special treat-- then i don't mind the price so much.. just sit back and enjoy the soup..

do have a question though-- if anyone knows-- we used to have a place in our local mall called "ABC bread company" (atlanta bread company)=-- and that mysteriously closed and shortly after panera's opened up right down the road--serving a very similar menu (almost exact matter of fact--) are they the same place??? just wondering...

Trust me "THEY" don't have anything near what can be described as the definition of Wisconsin Cheese Soup. You just insulted the Entire State of Wisconsin as well as Minnesota and North Dakota too.

I like their asiago cheese loaf.

wanderingjew-- i NEVER meant to insult anyone-- believe me.. that's not my intention.. especially insulting an entire state ( or two or three....) i am sure -- as with anywhere else and any other kind of food-- the locals have the market on it... but i was just speaking in general..

Are you sure they don't use Wisconsin cheese in their cheese soup?

I'm a three minute walk from a Panera. They're always empty as is Quiznos. I give them both till years end. I usually just walk past and sneak into Panda Express.[|)]-sorry.

ok-- knew you were kidding.. just wanted to clarify things.. maybe they do use wisconsin cheese.. don't know--
all i know is that it is darn good soup and the one here always has a line..
their bagels are pretty good too.. considering they are not what i'm used to being from jersey and previously working in a bagel shop.. but they are close..

wanderingjew-- no sweat.. no offense taken- all in good fun on here.. and if you don't understand that then it becomes your problem (generically speaking 'your') not mine.. i believe everyone has the right to express their opinion freely-- right??? thanks for the humor-- i wasn't being defensive..

Not too nuts about Pannera Bread, BUT St. Louis Bread Co. is the BOMB!!!! Especially their bread soup bowls & soups. YUMMY!

St. Louis Bread Co. is Panera. St. Louis Bread Co. is the name the chain began with, before switching to Panera.

I don't know about any where else but my local Panera seems to be a BIG hangout for the soccer moms, you can never find a place to park amongst all the suv's. Seriously, we have some pretty good restaurants and they all seem to be very busy and do a good business but the Panera lot is always packed. Ours has free wi-fi and does a Friday night open mike as well.

Panera has terrible breads, they all seem dry, crumbly pieces of tasteless lint masses. If you want to try good bread, drive around for some time untill you find a real bakery. You will be satisfied far more than panera...

and what's with the name panera=bread in spanish. Not many spaniard things on the menu.
