What's the best way to heat pastrami for a sandwich? Do the deli's steam it? If so, how long should it be steamed?

Steam----if its a one peice chunk that hasnt been sliced it will take longer-but if its sliced it will be be very quick---and BTW--personally,i use beer not water--and not alot of liquid---just enough to steam the meat--1/2 inch in my wok does enough for two healthy sandwiches easily-(i put a round grate in the wok and cover it for about a min after the liquid is hot)

I haven't done it in years but we would place the pastrami in aluminum foil, poke a few holes in the foil and place it over boiling water for a few minutes

I don't waste time. I just nuke it wrapped in wax paper for about 40 seconds. Then, after putting on rye with Swiss and mustard I just nuke it again to warm the bread and melt the cheese. Twenty second more. With large amoounts of slices pastrami, however, I put in foil with a sprinkling of water and then heat it in a skillet.
