if you ever find yourself in yuma (why you would, i don't know) there's a place, been there for years, in the old downtown section called LUTE'S NEW CASINO. it's a crazy decorated place has mexican food, etc. but what they are famous for is called a lutes special. order one and you get a smallish cheeseburger with a hot dog on top, lettuce, tomato, etc. but a HOT DOG?? it's one tasty sandwich. has anyone out there ever seen such a thing?

Its actually called the "especial," and its a classic example of the "sum being more than the parts." Obviously I was "stuck" in Yuma for an evening once. The dog is split, grilled, and laid on top the charbroiled hamburger. Pancake syrup containers of the spicy, garlic touched, thinnish house made salsa are at every table to douse your burger with. Its an amazing Road Food experience, the salsa drenching the burger/dog as well as the more than decent fries. The sub zero beer is the one hedge against temperatures which reached 120 degrees the day I was there.
