Thought you folks would enjoy this article about Ed Levene and his new book-A Slice of Heaven-and his 18 pie day in the Bay Area.
I don't have an opinion on pizza wars, for I grew up without a clear style in KC.
We just ate what was put in front of us.

Well, I grew up on the east coast and I've eaten a lot of pizza in SF, including 2 of the places mentioned (Pauline's and Tommasso's). And I ALWAYS find the CA product disappointing. Maybe it's that I'm definitely a thin crust, Neopolitan kind of guy. I love Chicago but I think "Chicago style pizza" is an abomination, but it's popular in the Bay Area.

I'm surprised they didn't include Viccolo--a very popular "gourmet" pizza spot near City Hall (and moi).
