Hamdog!

Don't know if this post belongs here or in the hot dog forum - yesterday the local paper ran a story about the Hamdog and how it's achieved worldwide notoriety. It's the specialty of Mulligan's, a pool-hall joint here in Decatur, GA. You take a hot dog, surround it with hamburger, deep-fry it, put it on a roll, top it with chili, cheese, and a fried egg. I haven't had one; doubt if I will (two of these components together, tops, for me) - it's like the Tur-duck-hen of bar food. Apparently all the news articles about it abound in alarmed quotes from dieticians. Imagine that.

By chance, today's paper had a lengthy article on mega-sized burgers (1 lb. and up) showing up in Hardee's and other places, loudly proclaiming big food is back. I can't recall it being away myself...

Where is "Mulligan's"??? Will be up in Stone Mtn. week after next; same in middle of next month, metro area for 4 day is in June, and again to SM in August. Where, where in Decatur?

It's at 630 East Lake Drive, in the Oakhurst neighborhood - a bit south and west of the town proper - on the other side of the tracks.

Interesting sandwich---remember the Cosby Show---Dad would grill Theo's favorite---"Bacon burger dogs!!"---sounds like one of these wrapped with bacon---could be good too!

I feel a road trip brewin..

Later in the article they discuss The Luther Burger served at the same joint.
