Pickles, who likes them on their sandwich and who dosn't, and if you like them, on what?

I myself believe tuna should never be without some pickles.

Are we limiting this thread to tuna (salad?) As far as pickles go, I usually like them on some sandwiches, but not all.

They are a necessary item on hamburgers, for sure.
They are required for a proper BBQ brisket sandwich in KC. (balances the smokiness of the meat)
In reviewing my favorites, I mostly like them on sandwiches involving beef. I don't seem to put them on much else. hmmm.

I never thought much about pickles.

I always go for them on burgers -- when offered. But, come to think about it, I never ask for them, except at White Castle.

I like pickles near by bbq beef, gernerally not on the sandwich though.

        I love GOOD deli pickles.

On one of my favorite "green" veggie sandwiches (whole grain bread, sprouts, lettuce, avocado, cucumber, mayo) - yes, sweet pickle stackers or slices are a must.

On tuna - I like with or without, relish or pickle slices, sweet or dill.

On burgers - pickles slices are optional, but only if there are also raw onion slices.

I love pickles! I bought a HUGE jar of Vlasic whole kosher dills last week at Walmart for 2.50, and they are already nearly halfway gone. But I don't put them inside the sandwich - I prefer to slap a couple of them on the plate beside the sandwich, and alternate bites of sandwich and pickle.

Sour pickles are especially tasty with a banana and mayonaisse sandwich.

One thing I miss on the west coast are those Red Hot Dills, Usually individually packaged
and sitting by the cash register. One of those and those "Firecracker" red hot sausages + a Pepsi used to be a great 2:am snack, back when.

                          Dearfolk,
Y'all are making me want to leave the library sometime like 9:00 P. M. and trundle down to The Blind Pig for some fried dill pickles. The night the chef at The Hollywood Cafe in Mississippi came up with that (out of desperation) was a landmark day in Southern culinary history. The Blind Pig is the only local place where they're available, and they go through a lot of them. (They're a great beer accompaniment.)
I understand that cutting Kosher sour pickles into thin slices and breading and frying them is an improvement over standard dill pickles... they end up with an odd sweet-sour flavor when served with ranch dressing. Now THAT is something I'd like to try someday.
Unhungrily (At The Moment, But - As Always - Subject To Change!), Ort. Carlton in Culinarily-Clustered Athens, Georgia.
                          P. S. To answer the question, I like them on a sandwich when I'm in the mood for them... which is usually.

I cannot imagine a good cuban sandwich without the thinly siced dill pickles on it: otherwise I agree with you.

I personally love kosher deli pickle slices with tuna salad on whole wheat as a side dish along with potato chips. Also, like sweet pickles with my hamburgers.

I don't care for pickle slices on my samdwich. I'd rather have a nice big sour deli style dill pickle on the side.

Good point!!--there IS a time for the pickle to be IN the sandwich rather then on the side....and i also use chopped pickles for ham/spam salads.
