Was the Cheddarmelt the burger on the rye bun with cheese and sauteed onions? I loved that burger!

Used to make something similar called the Patty Melt. Grilled rye, burger, heaping stack of sauteed onions topped with swiss and american cheese.

Where did/do you find it? The Patty Melt is a fairly standard menu item, though not always executed well.

Are you referring to that concoction from )))) shudder ((((( mcchainolds? an overpriced 1/4 pounder with cheesefood sauce...bleh.. try the blucheese burger at the "Loop"

We have Friendly's Reastaurants in our area (Massachusetts) that serve the Patty Melts. I ate one at our local Friendly's just last week, and it wasn't as good as they use to be. They don't saute the onions before putting them on the sandwich like they use to.
