French Toast at Shorty's Key West

Hoping one of you knows the secret to the legendary French Toast that was served at Shorty's on Duval Street in Key West before it closed to become (sob) a T- shirt shop. It was amazing and appeared to incorporate some sort of sourdough in the batter. We would leave Fort Lauderdale at 4 Am and drive 4 hours to Key West for breakfast and it was worth every mile!

Now we go to the Luncheonette at Denis Pharmacy which is wonderful too, but Shorty's was the best! They had some other great breakfast grub too like creamed chipped beef, but the French Toast was the bell ringer! Anyone remember this spot and know where I can find the breakfast cook so I can kidnap him?
