Al's Gourmet Pizza in D.C.
Mon, 09/12/05 1:27 PM
This is a take/out delivery place in Capitol Hill near Lincoln Park.
I've had it three times. And I'm not giving it anymore chances and am going to get delivery from NY Pizzaria on Pennsylavania Ave.
This last time, I ordered a large pizza with 5 toppings (a little excessive I know, but that was the deal) I got: black olives, fresh tomato, spinach and ground beef.
It ended up having sausage instead of beef, but I didn't mind that.
I did mind the fact that there were so many black olives that you couldn't taste anything else. Seriously, it over powering. And since they were under the cheese, it was hard to take them off without taking nearly all the other toppings off.
I also got an order of Jalepeno poppers, which were good but for $5.95 I would've expected more than just 5 poppers. But they were flavorful. Ironically the marinara sauce used to dip the poppers was better than the sauce on the pizza. They need to work on that IMO.
So, if there are any cap hillers out there, I suggest passing and getting your pizza from NY Pizzaria on the 1400 block, near the Potomac Ave Metro Stop, on Pennsylvania Ave, SE.
