Olive Burgers

I wonder how many other regions besides SW Michigan partake of the pleasures of a greasy diner burger, fresh from the grill, that is smothered in a mound of sliced green olives and dripping with mayo? The Hot N Now chain had great (cheap) olive burgers, as well as Roxy's diner in St. Joseph.

Nearly every Greek "family style" place in the Chicago area makes a green olive and mayo burger. Just wish they wouldn't use frozen leather patties.

Miaculpa, if you make it up to Grand Rapids, check out Get-m-n-Go... I beleive I've seen them on their menu also. (All their prices are comparable with what Hot n Now used to be)... (Plus they sell an awesome Chili Dog).. Also, olive burgers are fairly popular here.. Alot of taverns sell them around here.. Never realized it was a regional thing..

Kevin Matthews and his alter-ego Jim Shorts are now in GR on WLAV, morning time-slot. Pretty amazing guy. www.kevhead.com He appeals to all demographics and will make you laugh for sure.

Yup, I know.. Actually know him personally.. Went to school with his sister. He got his start here in Grand Rapids before hitting Chicago.

There is a small regional chain (limited to the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex and Tulsa OK) "Burger Street" That makes an outstanding Olive Burger.

I'd never heard of olive burgers - they didn't seem to make it all the way to southeast Michigan where I'd lived 13 years - but made some up last night. Very nice!

I do love olives, but I think I'd shoot anyone who tried to put them on my hamburger.
