That was a cruel cruel thing to do - putting Abbott's on as restuarant of the day, being that it's closed for the winter . Now I'm going to be day dreaming for a hot lobster roll all winter long. oh well, at least it'll be a good dream!

My one venture out into Abbott's was ruined by seagulls hovering overhead, looking for me to ignore my lobster for a nanosecond so that they could some sweeping down to devour it! Love eating seafood outdoors - hate the seagulls.

As I stated on the topic of Roadfood recommendations that have let me down, this place provided mediocre food, in an unclean environment, at high prices, with a long wait to be served. Pretty views though!

I'm with you, Barney and Zina. The seagulls are ready to pounce when you head for the tent (there are warning signs everywhere, telling you to protect your food in transit), the prices are outrageous, and the food is only so-so. Lots better places to eat along the CT shore.

I am in total agreement. Abbott's is over-rated and overpriced! I've had excellent lobster rolls at Lenny & Joe's in Westbrook and I'm sure that there are equally good places along the shore....OR you could, as Michael suggested, make your own.

When I was a working seaman,we had a description of seagulls - which was also extended to some of our fellow crewmenbers: "All they do is eat, ****, and squawk". As for Abbotts: I think they have sliped a bit in the past few years, but there are few nicer things to do than sit out on their dock on a pleasant Summer evening and eat a lobster roll - and the price be damned! Cheers, John

My experience with Abbots dates back to the 1960's when an in-law from a marriage long gone, lived in Noank within a short block of the place. It was easy then to walk down the hill in the afternoon of a visit-day and enjoy a shared Lobster Roll. The gulls were a pain, the prices were high (for a teacher in the 60's), and the spouse was a pain then and didn't get better as the years wore on... Today the spouse is still a real pain...but not to me anymore, The gulls can be nailed with a bb gun if you want to take the chance a bird-nazi will turn you in...and the prices are still outrageous.
