I was at Dollywood today in Pigeon Forge, TN. They were selling some unusal sweet snacks. some I had seen before and one that I did not. I first will tell you that I sampled all three. The first wa a french fried Twinkie which they rolled in flour, then in a sweet batter and then fried until it was a pretty brown, then I got a Snickers bar which was rolled in flour and then in a sweet batter and last, which was the best, they took an ear of sweet corn, rolled it in flour and then a sweet batter and fried it until it was golden brown. The sweet batter really complemented the corn. I had never had it before. I ate a bit of the twinkie which was really good, a smaller bit of the snickers which was super sweet and the corn which I bought two. The corn was the best. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

Hey no making fun of Dolly! Seriously though how is Dollywood as an overall experience? I'm not southern and not generally a country music fan, but I do love Dolly's work from the late 60s-early 70s (before she got too "pop") and her recent bluegrass stuff, and she seems a more "real person" than most celebs despite the outfits and chest, etc. So is the theme park worth it for a yankee-foodie's potential visit?

Being from Knoxville, I have been watching Dolly for better than 45 years. She was doing radio at WNOX originally with Archie (Granpappy on HeeHaw) Campbell, then local TV and then she went national. There is probably a very good reason she looks young and big. She probably has been cut and pasted many times. She can afford it. Dollywood is really entertaining. The musicians are outstanding and their variety of food is superior to most amusement parks. Great Eagle exhibit and the Mayor would like their train. Great crafts. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

Hey Sundancer, Let's be fair to Dolly, first off yes, Dolly was on local radio 45 years ago but she was only 12 at the time. So's she's only 57 now, Not a teenager but not with one foot in the grave either! Shoot she readily admits to a little nipping & tucking. Always did say she'd do whatever it took.

Now Bushie, Mind Your Manner's ... The whole topic is leaning dangerously to the left (birth defect?).. But it does bring to mind one of my favorite breakfast meals--- 2 xtra-large eggs, fried Sunny Side Up..Surrounded by hot Bacon just off the griddle, letting the grease be absorbed by soft material...like paper towels or a tee-shirt.

quote: Oh, you boys...sorry, I haven't figured out how to post photos yet but I guess that's one more reason to head for New Orleans. Dolly is naturally well-endowed, but confesses to surgical enhancement. "You have no idea how expensive it is to look this cheap" -Dolly Parton

Y'know I'm as much a victim of today's fixation on female beauty (real or otherwise) as anyone...I'm a 37 year old single male with no prospects whatsoever, you figure it out...but Dolly's "enhancements" real or no I have to say mean nothing to me. "Jolene" and "Coat of Many Colors" those are enough for me. What she looks like is pretty meaningless in my book. Who she is and what she sings, that's what I care about. The same statements could apply for most Roadfood, btw.
