Sad News About One of US.

I just received an e-mail from the wife of the poster who was known here as Berndog. She told me he had died suddenly on February 26. She also said that Roadfood was one of the things that gave him great pleasure. I'm sorry to hear of his passing because his posts were fun and he added a lot to this board

Wow...that is sad news. Bernie emailed me some time ago because I mentioned that I travel to Rochester periodically. He told me to drop him a line if I was going to be in the area, and he would throw some recommendations my way.

When I was last in Rochester, I started a thread that was basically sending up the Bat-signal for Berndog, but he never responded. I searched some old threads and found that he recommended a place called the Highland Park Diner. I had a fabulous meal there, finished off with their self-described "world's best apple pie." It lived up to the billing, as did the Highland Park Diner.

Thanks for the recommendation, Bernie.

Very sorry to read this. I too enjoyed Berndog's posts.

That's shocking. Being an Upstate New Yorker, I was always interested in his Rochester suggestions. And we swapped some info on places to hit between DC and there.

Sad to know he's gone. He was really nice on these boards.
