Diner-Lover, I think your Mom and mine must have read the same magazine or something. Archway was special and better for you than boxed cookies, but they were also a special treat.
I loved the hermits. I think there were also some kind of oatmeal cookies with a jelly filling my Mom would buy occasionally. I'll have to look for them again.
My Mom was very influenced by stuff she read in magazines or saw on TV, so we kids endured a few "experiments" over the years-- most short-lived, mercifully. And thankfully, the Archway cookies were a positive
I looked on Archway's website and found nothing, so I did a search to see what kinds of Archway cookies are still available and found a lot on an Amazon.com site showing many of the varieties: http://www.amazon.com/gp/search.html/104-8563416-6182360?%5Fencoding=UTF8&node=3580501&brand=Archway
I forgot about a few other Archway's Mom used to buy: the Chocolate Chip Drop cookies-- soft and cakey, but they had small chocolate chips, as I remember, and not too many of them, either. Also, she'd sometimes buy the Fruit and Honey bars which were tasty. I see on the Amazon.com site that they have a Raspberry filled cookie that maybe is the same variety your Mom bought, Ashphalt.
I'd love to have Archway's (and other cookies, for that matter) in the house, but I'm a cookieholic and Mr.Diner-Lover would have to hide them or I'd eat most of them in a day or so. But then again, Mom said
they were nutritious.........
