Does anyone else do this?

After frying hamburgers, leave the grease in the skillet. Lower heat to medium low. Take bread(plain ole white bread), place the bread in the skillet to soak up the grease on one side, turn over and grill the bread until it is crisp and brown on both sides.

OHHHH, is this good. Heart attack ala grilled bread, but really yummy as an occasional treat.

No, I don't do that. Have you ever been to Dyer's, on Beale street in Memphis? It's your kinda place.

Not with hamburger grease, but I do that with a little hot pepper sausage grease that I keep on hand for pan grilling hot dog and hamburg buns.

Been there and done that. It turned the Mayor off but in my opinion, the burger was very good.

I think their oil is much older than what was posted.

No but similar, My grandmother after cooking a steak in a cast iron skillet would deglaze the pan and add stale bread to the pan juices. She called it poor mans steak and as a kid I thought it was damn decient. Chow Jim

I take some juice from a roast and spoon some on french bread and bake. Not so unhealthy and still good.

If I'm going to eat something SO unbelievably bad for me, it's not going to be straight grease.

I also do this. After pan frying my burgers, I take the top of the buns and dip them in the grease and then lay them on top of the burgers and cover with a lid and let them soften for a few minutes. I only do this when I can't grill out. When I worked concession for a local high school baseball team we did this all the time and people loved them. Some of the best burgers around.

I like to fry up an 85% lean with butter and pour that liquid goodness after its done on the bun.
