CHOCOLATE BARS

I've been collecting wrappers from (mostly) dark chocolate bars (and doing comparison tastings with my colleagues of the chocolate, of course.) Anyone else out there share my interest in dark chocolate bars from around the world?

I like dark choc but not to the extent that you do. I just eat and enjoy.

Hello All,
Dagoba Lavender-dark chocolate, lavender and blueberries
Valrhonia Caraibe-dark chocolate with chopped hazelnuts
Ghirardelli Espresso Escape-cacao dark chocolate with finely ground espresso beans
Dagoba xocolatl-dark chocolate, chilies and nibs
I especially like the xocalatl, the chilies give a great hot aftertaste.

I just had one from Lindt, I believe.. that had dark chocolate, real orange bits, and caramel crunch pieces...yum!

Hello All,
Roadrash, I prefer milk chocolate and can only eat a bit of dark chocolate. But
dark chocolate seems to create different flavours when mixed with other ingredients.
That is just my opinion. But for day to day, I prefer milk chocolate.
The xocalatl-dark with chilies is far out.

 Only dark chocolate for me. No white, and will do milk rarely.

The glorious Belgian "Cote d'Or" chocolates...I try like crazy, but I cannot find them in the States.
Has anyone else been successful in finding them?

I share your desire and frustration. I find Cote D'Or occasionally in specialty shops or wine stores. I am currently in Europe and look forward to my purchase at the duty free shop on the way home.

Those are great! Central Market stores in Dallas always have a large selection. They are the very best dark chocolates!

Re: "Central Market" in Dallas and their chocolate bars. They have a very large comprehensive selection devoted to imported chocolate bars. Once, when they were out of my favorite "Cote d' Or" dark chocolate bars, I asked their customer service person to order it back in for me. I was told they deal with one vendor (distributor) who checks and stocks their large chocolate dept. Within 3 days of my "refill" request, the shelf where that particular "Cote d' Or" favorite of mine was kept was now fully re-stocked. I thanked their customer service person and bought a dozen bars.

I like to eat dark chocolate along with fresh oranges. Especially the Belgian Cote D'Or. But, I do prefer the milk chocolate, especially the chocolate bars with almonds. If you have a Liquor Barn store, you might want to check there for the Belgian Cote D'Or. They also have Toblerone!

I have recently been eating dark chocolate due to the reported health benifits. I'm not much of a sweet eater but do enjoy a few squares of dark chocolate with my black coffee in the morning. Currently I've been useing a Belgim product named Dolfin www.dolfin.be Noir 88% De Cacao not for the average consumer though, it can be on the bitter side and expensive at $3.99 for 2.47ozs. Thats a retail price and can be found at Dairy Fresh candies on Salem St. in the North End of Boston, they also have a fine selection of other chocolates. On the cheap side is Trader Joe's labled Pound Plus 72% Dark Chocolate 17.6ozs priced at $3.99 this is also a Belgim product from Antwerp, more bang for your buck and a little sweeter. jayolins, if you are interested e-mail your address to me and I'll forward my wrappers to you.
