Papa Milano's..another tragedy Mon, 06/26/06 1:56 PM (permalink)
Just read that the venerable Papa Milano's in downtown Chicago is closing (or has already closed..being bulldosed out of existence)....this is far worse than the Bergoff closing as far as I'm concerned...was the very first restaurant I ate in on my first visit to Chicago many years ago...a true classic...

Just as tragic (perhaps even more so), I'm guess Mondelli's Lounge is going with it.....sigh..very depressing..

Does anyone know if Papa Milano's actually closed? We were there in November and they were stil open, but were trying to negotiate on the lease. It would be a shame if they did shut their doors as this is/was a great place for an excellent yet inexpensive Italian meal.

I'm going to call right now to see if it's still open...I'm afraid of what I might hear...

It closed about six months ago and a retail development is going up on the site. I don't think it is going to reopen in another location.
