Suggestion for Roadfood forum Thu, 07/6/06 9:05 AM (permalink)
Yesterday, in the "Where Should I Eat" forum, I accidentally stumbled upon a thread started by a poster inquiring about places to eat in Vail, Colorado. I had just concluded a vacation there, and ate at several locales. Luckily, I was able to opine 2 exceptional restuarants to that poster. However, if there was a way one could put into a text box a "search" string of phrases so that topics on the matter could be revealed, it would serve a dual role of not having to browse through numerous threads, while also potentially eliminating thread duplication. I know a little bit about database administration, but do not pretend to be a wizard. Is there any way a search by text entry box be added, so one could search on keyword phrases? Not meant to offend the website people here, just my two cents.

    Hmmm, I do that all the time. I just do the "search" link at the top of the page and go from there. I just did "san antonio" yesterday for my grandson who is going with his dad. Lot's of stuff came up.

    I try to remember to do that before I start a new thread but...........

      Thanks PapaJoe8. I did not even see that. I guess it's just not very visible up front, or intuitive, but that's exactly what I was looking for.

        Great Tam&mik! There are others here who may not know about this. Now, thanks to your thread they will.

        Many also don't know there is an "edit" button that looks like a pencil, if you mess up, as I do all the time.

        Now if I could only find the spell check here.

        What else does anyone need to know???

          Hey Joe,

          When you reply to a topic, does your reply window look like this?

          If so, the little button to the far right, which has ABC and a blue check mark, will be your spell checker.

          I am not sure if this can be turned on or off, but it has always been there for me, which is a good thing!!

            PapaJoe: You can spell check. It just does not tell you how to spell whatever you are checking. It only highlights what it perceives as a misspelled word.;

              Ahhh, I just do the "quick reply" thing that's at the bottom of the thread. I am at the real "reply" screen now. Yep, my Ahhhh turned yellow when I did the ABC thing, neat. No promises to use this when I'm in a hurry though, but thanks!!!!
              Joe

              Wow, "yep" is a real word. It did not turn yellow.

                "Yep" is in the The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition as an informal alteration of the word yes.

                Hot diggity, whoda thunk?
