Yep, with kettle-cooked chips since they hold up so well, and maybe a little sweet relish mixed in with the Miracle Whip. And here in my neck of the woods they consider me a gourmet cook. Don't ask, don't tell...

Now to find that BBQ loaf. One if my grandzillas will not eat a sandwitch without Nacho Cheese Doritoes. Joe

My favorite childhood sandwich and still a favorite is: Grill, boil, broil, microwave a hotdog, split down the center and fold apart, cut a slice of bread in two,put catsup(as a kid the only catsup we had was my grandma's homemade, yummy, the best!) on one side and mayo or miracle whip(I like either). I still love these hotdog sandwiches

our version is a tad simpler...very soft white bread, a little mayo (preferably Blue Plate) and chips with ridges (for the extra texture). do not cut. press until the chips are imbedded in the bread...and the mayo acts as the "glue". such a treat.

quote: My Mom used to make an olive loaf sandwich, and the meat looked remarkably similar to that. Wouldn't eat that now, but a P and J sandwich, toasted, is still a comfort food for me today.

I used to (as a child) eat a spaghetti sandwich which was leftover cold spaghetti on white bread. I also liked benedictine sandwiches and potato chip sandwiches. Today, I stick with a BLT on toasted wheat or a good sub. Andrea

Do they still make pickle and pimento loaf? Kind of nasty, but I loved it as a kid. And sandwich spread, in the tube. Some kind of pink mush with pickle pieces. Is that still out there?
