Wasabi Peas Tue, 08/1/06 2:07 PM (permalink)
Wasabi peas are, IMHO, (1) addictive, and (2) expensive, i.e. over-priced!

Has anyone ever made this delicious snack at home? And if so, what were your results?

I know there are a couple of "recipes" on the Google, but I like to hear from someone who has ACTUALLY done the trick!

In addition to enjoying the peas as a delicious "snack", I have collected some recipes that "sound" delicious, particularly seafood recipes, using the wasabi peas (crushed) as a "crust."

I found and purchased some wasabi powders (McCormick and Kaneku brands). I also was told that Wegman's carries fresh wasabi, but have not checked that out yet.

Any comments or advice on making the peas at home?

Can't say I make them at home, but they sure are delicious. BTW, I just bought dishwashing liquid from Williams& Sonoma in Wasabi Mint scent. It makes it actually fun to do the dishes!

Ive never heard of making home made wasabi peas. Using it crushed as coating sounds interesting.

while we're on the subject, has anyone tried the wasabi Funyuns?
