New Mexico Pizza

Just came upon a new pizza for sale in Santa Fe: Blue Corn Pizza. (crust made of blue cornmeal, toppings differ, tho I'll bet green chile is there!)

you'll be hard pressed to find a place that DOESN'T put green chiles on
their food in new mexico.

Yup, I've had it in candy, in beer, in hot chocolate, chocolate candy bars, bread, cheese, uh, what else now?
How about Green Chile Ice Cream???
(Well, I can imagine a sorbet...)
And, it's great on pizza! (Do you have green chile pizza down in your part of NM?)

Last night I ordered the above mentioned pizza. Served at the newly open "Rooftop Pizza" on the Plaza in SF.

It turned out to be chicken, green chile, pinon nuts, mexican cojeto cheese and alfredo sauce (only the alfredo was a deviation from NM) on blue corn crust.

It was OK a bit different but the alfredo runied it. Let's stick to NM foods here!

Dion's Pizzeria in Las Cruces (I know there are a few in Albuquerque as well) has a pizza called the "Duke City" which is essentially a thin crust pizza with shreds of turkey, cheddar cheese and the aforementioned green chile. In fact, I had one for dinner last night. It's just the perfect amount of food, and oh so delicious.

It's Friday, raining out, cold in New Mexico. Been reading through the pizza forum to cheer me up.

If you are ever in Albuquerque, you have to try Saggio's by the University. Perfect crust, chewy on the outside. Sauce is right on the mark. Slices are big too. Can usually find a coupon in the daily college newspaper.
