OK folks, help a fool out here. I haven't been sunburned this bad in 20 years......If I remember correctly didn't people use to put Vinegar on their skin to help with sunburn? Hopefully by the time I check back on this post tomorrow the worse will be over. But for the next time.....PS I know about Preparation H works wonders but that stuff is $$$$$$ and I have a lot area to cover. Ouch!

BigGlenn: Am not certain, but seems that I remember back as kid hearing of vinegar as a sunburn remedy. I know I remember a doctor once prescribing tea (just cooled, strongly brewed tea) as a remedy for a burn, so assume if it worked with a burn it would also work with sunburn. Back when I was a kid parents wouldn't let you put your burned hand in cold water but instead would put butter on it. Now you read cold water or icepacks are best things for burn with butter or oily salves being the worst. Though not a food related remedy, my old standard sunburn treatment, particularly to nurse the sunburn through the healing process, is Noxzema (or now some less expensive equivalent). It works wonders; when it dries out/absorbs, just apply more.

cider vinegar in a warm bath always worked when I was a kid. Aloe is good and aspirin.

A cool bath with about half a box of baking soda will help alot with the discomfort.
