Wife and I ate at one yesterday -- boy it brought back the memories. It was a dining out staple in my family as I was growing up -- but, they have all closed in the immediate area.

Thanks

I took my band students to one on a band trip on the way back from Wilmington, NC.
They loved it. I found food I could eat. The kids really loved it.
They all got the buffet and found plenty of foods to eat. I took them to many restaurants on trips, and oddly enough, I think they liked the Western Sizzlin the best.

They built a distinctive building...now it usually has "Chinese Buffet" or "Mexican place" on the sign.

I was in one once in Pine Bluff, Arkansas back in the '80s. I liked it so much I've never been to another one.

There is a vacant one across the street from my shop. It has not been a Western Sizzlin' for about 15 years. It has been a variety of Chinese Buffets and such. Now -- if I had more money and less sense I would reopen it.

At the peak we had three in Evansville. This one, an abandoned one on the south side, and one on Lincoln Ave which is now a Hooter's. I wonder if the franchisee got a little overextended. The Morgan Ave location always seemed to be busy

              Thanks

At one time, Western Sizzling was very good. I have no idea what happened? The good comes and goes.

I used to like these also. I wonder how Golden Corral compares to the Sizlers?

The thing that always set Sizzlin' apart from the other chains was the quality of the meat. It was really pretty good in comparison to Bonanza or Ponderosa. Golden Corral is not bad, but I really don't go there for the steak -- it is a little bland to me.

                    Thanks

Thanks Scott! Hmmm, what do you go to GC for? I think I will start a new thread. Thers not a thread in the chains section on GC yet. I am forced to go to GC as some of my familly love it.

Oh, are there any Sizzlers in Texas anymore?
