Whether the topic has been covered before is immaterial ... frogger67 has under 20 posts, give him/her a break!... if each time we posted a comment we had to do a search to "make sure" it had not been posted before we wouldn't be posting much. Yes, they are related to Denny's. Some Sambo's became Denny's.
Lil black Sambo did not represent an African-American, or an African at all. The story was based on a little eastern Indian boy. The reference "black" causes the same confusion and problems that all "color" references do ... "black" OR "white".
Color is not an ethnicity. Color is not a race. The issue really gets under my skin something fierce. (I have an enormous soapbox for this issue ... but I digress as this forum is about "Breakfast".)
As a little kid I liked the restaurants and loved the children's book (and tigers and pancakes!).
