Back in the day I used to eat at one of these, and it was 10 times better than Blimpie or Subway. Are they still good? http://www.dangelos.com/

D'Angelos is chain, alright (and maybe belongs in the FFF). IMO it is a step above Subway or Quiznos because it is a regional chain and bases its menu and preparation on the local sub shops. For me, D'Angelo's is a reasonable choice when I'm hungry in an area where I don't see a decent-looking Mom & Pop, but I don't make a point to go there. That said, they have been cross-branding with Pizza Hut and the like, and putting in mini-locations in gas-marts (as Blimpie's has) and the quality suffers in these locations. They are also trying a new concept to compete with the nationals, I think it's D'Angelo's Grilled Sandwiches. I haven't felt the need to try it, yet.

D'Angelos is pretty good - I prefer it to Subway for sure. The subs can be a bit skimpy, but they're generally tasty, served on nice fresh soft sub rolls. The steak & cheese (and its variations) can be pretty tasty, especially with a little pickle & hot peppers. Just be careful at D'Angelos - check your order before leaving the store. They are NOTORIOUS for not getting the order correct. D'Angelos is also partnering w/ Papa Gino's in some locations here in the Boston area. John (#9 Pocket)

Papa Gino's (awful, IMHO) and D'Angelos are under the same ownership. I agree D'angelo's is maybe a step or two above Subway....at least they have a grill, instead of a microwave, for the hot subs.

That's what I thought, thanks for answering my post. I just remember getting some good subs back in the day, I think one was called the #9 (steak and cheese), correct me if wrong.

The "#9" is "Grilled steak, mushrooms, peppers, onions and cheese, grilled to perfection!". http://www.dangelos.com/standard_menu.html
