Wingman, great post. Welcome to Roadfood.
My late wife and her entire family was from Maine (West Peru, near Rumford). Slow-cooked baked beans were a tradition for her, including in sandwiches. Your post brought back nice memories.

Thanks, Ciaoman. I love your screen name.
I remember Peru quite well. I worked at a small boys'camp in Oakland during college and would take the campers down US 2 to the White mountains for camping trips....through Peru.
Thanks for making me feel welcome.
I've been a roadfood fan since the first edition and am happy to find the web site.
