    What state are you in?

There should be a web site for all the fairs, festivals, events in your state online.

At the Minnesota State Fair there are way more applicants than openings and it is not a waiting list situation. When openings do occur a new concession is judged on merit as to whether it gets in or not. So in Minnesota I imagine you couldn't come in selling corn dogs but would have to have something new and unique on a stick.

Many fairs the concessions are handled thru the amusement company that acts as the overseer of all vending at said fair. They are the ones that allot location, size of space, power etc. This in turn frees up the actual fair personel to attend to the multitude of other items that have to be taken care of. Thanks Tex. I'll check the website. I'm wondering if it is next to impossible to get space in most events. I assume you would make good money at it.

craftmaster.com eventlister.com these both work. Eventlister is free. If you even want unlimited access to the data base, all you need to do is request it nicely, and the director will give it to you. It's even in he small print. Ed (Big B)

The small festivals are where you should start. Go the the sites mentioned (craigslist is another one) by eddybees and I.

Even at the small festivals there is a pecking order. The repeat vendors that have been setting up for years are going to get the prime spots, but I have found if the traffic flow is set up correctly everyone will walk by your booth at least once and thats good enough :)

The other trick is to get on EARLY EARLY, as soon as the applications go out. alsob on the lookout for newer events. If you get in on these when they are in their 1st or 2nd or 3rd year, you can be the premium vendor with the best spot for years to come. I am new at this but have done great when the weather cooperated.
