Commercial Flan

I found some of this at Wal-mart the other day and decided to try it. it is "Luisa's brand Authentic Baked Flan" I'm no flan expert but I'm really enjoying the heck out of it. I really have to moderate myself since 1 5oz cup has 41g of carbs, not good for a diabetic. MikeS.

I've had a commercial flan before, did it have a foil lid you peeled off? Don't remember the name.

I too have tried this flan and it's pretty good. Yes, it can be habit forming.

Kozy Shack makes a flan? I've had their tapioca and rice pudding, but I didn't know about a flan. Is it shelved with the other ones?

Kozy Shack should be with the other Kozy Shack products in the refigerated case with the other puddings like Swiss Miss. They have one which has a mango sauce, which I have only seen at the H.E.B.grocery Stores, mainly the one in Universal City and of course they have the regular flan.

I prefer an item that can be nearly impossible to find anymore in grocery stores.. Jello brand egg custard mix.. I could down a whole recipe of that stuff by myself...

Jennifer, I love that stuff too. What is the thin, watery substance that tops the custard after it's been sitting in the fridge? It's almost like sugar syrup.

I like the Jello custard too but a couple months ago when I made some it gave me a pretty good headache each time I ate it. An allergy? MikeS.

A great flan is at Henry's Market in southern California. In fact, I'm enjoying some right now.

Mike S., In OC, there are Henry's Markets in Costa Mesa and Fullerton. There are quite a few in between San Diego and LA. In my opinion, Henry's is better than Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. TJ's prices with WF quality. Unreal produce and great sandwiches for lunch at the deli counter. For those who haven't experienced Henry's, it's a must. Anyways, firm and rich flan.
