I agree as long as they are the ones with the thousand island sauce and not the tarter/mayo type sauce. Havent had one in years.

They returned to KC a few years back, but left in less than a year. Word was that they had too much trouble staffing.

Still lots of them in Michigan.

I'm glad to hear that there's some still around. When we'd go visit relatives over in PA, we'd always stop at one, I always got the Big Stack thing, too. Ate it all every time, too.

Big Boys was the place to go when I was stationed with Uncle Sams fly boys in N.E.Ark, there and Shoneys. SHoneys are all over the place now but its been awhile since Ive seen a BigBoys.. brings back memories of this waitress.............

I remember ordering the "Big Boy Combination" many times when I was in High School... one of my first "restaurant" experiences without my parents... always ordered the same thing and enjoyed it immensely...
haven't had one for a loooong time, but I remember the taste (thousand island dressing) and will always have the memories...
                  Maybe again sometime...

Just because I recall it is not tartar sauce-but a combination thousand island/tartar sauce thing...tartar sauce alone is not what I covet on that particular burger...IMHO...

Depending on what part of the country we were in - I would order a Big Boy from Zip's, Kip's, Vip's, or whomever on our roadtrips. My only other memory - and equally positive - was of their fresh strawberry pie. A burger and pie was a wonderful meal, in my opinion, at that time. Then, I also spoke favorably about a Big Mac. Boy have times changed!

Frisch's Big Boy is all around Lexington, KY. I love their breakfast buffet. And a Super Big Boy is great every now and then.

                                    And Frisch's Tartar Sauce Rocks!!!

When I was a child, and my dad took me to Gatlinburg, I ate at Kip's Big Boy {I may be wrong, so don't jump my ****e}, and I was served a hamburger that "thousand island" sauce. I almost threw up!!

Only because i was used to Frisch's tartar sauce {a dill pickle based tartar sauce}. Only a personal taste and the one I grew up with.

To each his {or her} own!!!

I'm with you. While it's not Fast food, it IS a franchise that has NOT been reviewed. For good reason.

Our Big Boy closed up. They sold the land to a big drug store company.

Whenever I mentioned that I loved Big Boy's when I was a kid in California to people from Michigan and other places to the east, they wondered why. Someone said the ones back there had different ownership and just licensed the original California name. Weren't the Frisch's ones and others very good? People in the posts above seem to say they were. They were well-loved in California, although I haven't seen or tried any there lately.

My last visit to a Big Boy was in Narita (Tokyo) airport. They had quite a selection on the menu, but the Cheeseburger Set Meal was about the only thing similar to something you'd find in the states. It wasn't half-bad.

Though I like visiting Big Boys when I get back to Michigan, it isn;t for the burgers, but for the fresh fish.
