my first thread attempt: does anybody remember Los Dos Compadres in Hoboken NJ? what an amazing mexican place it was! very run down inside, uncomfortable plastic booths, but the best mexican food i've ever eaten on this coast...the tamales, posole, and chips were food of the gods - one day i went to the kitchen serve-thru window because i had to tell the people cooking how much i enjoyed their food. ...there were 2 women in the kitchen, one at the grill, and a very old woman making piles of tamales...the folks who owned/ran it were from Oaxoca (correct spelling?), and they fed many of us broke, hungry musicians from the 80's to the late 90's when they closed...

...i enjoy this site very much!

...wow, it's disappointing that so many missed out on Los Dos...i believe it was on First St., about three blocks down from Washington...
anybody out there have a grandma-quality recipe for tamales or posole?

i remember it. i had only just discovered it months before they closed. "cheap tacos" we call them. 2 bucks a pop. quite delicious.
