Is bigger better?

Is bigger all ways better? Why? Give me a great average size, anytime, over a extra large, taseless one. What do you think? Why?

My ideal burger is 1/3lb. Anything beyond that is overkill. In my book atleast.

There are a couple of places around here that like to brag that they have the biggest burger around. Mels Cafe in Tombal has a Mega burger 1 1/2 lbs beef, 1 lb bacon and 1/4 lb american cheese, Kelleys has a 1 lbs burger and Sams Deli Diner has an All Day Burger which has 5 1/4 lb patties. I find they are just hard to eat, messy and I just get mad and throw the thing against the nearest wall.

I agree bigger is not always better-I think a 3rd of a lb.burger is enough to insure juiceiness-anything bigger is just a waste-and you guys are silly!!!!

Spoken by a member of "the committee ," I assume. 1/3 of a pound to 1/2 is about right. A real handful, and more than a mouthful...

I like the Hardees Monster Burger but also Krystals sack full or even Wendy's jalapeno/chedder double or the Loops 1/2 pounder with BluCheese, Ruby's mini's are pretty good as well. Then again nothing really compares to a homemade burger on the grill!

I've found a burger that is bigger AND better at the same time. Try a Fat Mo's deluxe burger with everything on it. You won't believe how good a hamburger can be! There are many locations in Nashville, but my favorite is the one on Franklin Blvd. The deluxe is about 16 oz of the best beef I've ever had. I haven't had the guts (or appetite) to try a Super Deluxe (27 oz).

I like them 1/4 lb., maybe slightly more but not much more. To me the way they're dressed is just as important as the meat and I like everything on my burgers to be a perfect blend of flavors and textures and for the meat not to overpower the dressings or vice-versa.

I usually make mine at 1/3 of a pound, unless it is just me eating then 1/2 pound.

I ate at our local diner today, Joe uses 6 oz per patty which makes a decent burger. He fries it up with a mixture of S&P & Cayenne.

OH MY GOODNESS it is good, done to medium rare, fresh crisp bacon, toasted roll.
