Our Pedro's tamale order came in today....got 1/2 that pot of chili in the cooler. I'm going to make a pot of pinto's, stuff and smoke some jalapeno's, shred some jack and cheddar and hurt myself :)I may even break down and have a cervasa or dos....and wish y'all were here to share.

Big g, that looks great and just what my Texas Uncle used to make. I'd love to dish that chili over some rice and chow down

What liquids did you have in the pot?

                  Mike,
the only liquid was what was in the can of diced tomatoes, the can of rotels and a cup of coffee. More of a stew. Didn't mean to blame you...just following your lead :)

Thanks Big g, nice work with the pics and the info.

I bought 3 lbs of pork stew meat today, I'm gonna make a pot of chili with that. I'll let ya'all know how it comes out.

Mike, I'll bet that turns out real tasty. Let us know.

Momma likes her chili a little more on the soup side, so I think I'm going to do her one like the Steak and Shake style with ranch beans and some jalapeno's, and break out another dozen of those Pedros tamales.

I always buy them that size at a restaurant supply place. They're a great deal less expensive that the stuff available in supermarkets.

I buy most of my spices at Costco in those large sizes. I have kept or bought normal sized bottles from the grocery store and refill these. The big bottle is then vacum sealed for storage. Works great, keeps the spice fresher.

Welcome to Roadfood SavageSam! When it comes to chili, I don't really think there are any rules, other then having an end product everyone will drool over...
