Gooberburger

Friday evening I passed through Sedalia, MO for the first time in about 8 years. I couldn't resist stopping at the Wheel Inn Drive-in to have a gooberburger. The Wheel Inn has been open since 1947 and is one of three old drive-ins in Sedalia. The gooberburger is a hamburger with warm peanut butter plus lettuce, tomato and salad dressing. It's pretty good - I wouldn't have minded if there had been a bit more peanut butter on the sandwich. The curly cue fries were also good, though the chocolate shake was only so-so. Keith

I thought I had read elsewhere that the Wheel Inn had closed down recently. Needless to say, I am pleased to hear that it is still in business. I have always wanted to stop in and try a gooberburger. Now, I still have a chance!

For some reason, I have a hard time trying to imagine what peanut butter adds to burger. I am sure if you look long enough, you will find something to please everyone. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

The highway project is in 2008. It is uncertain if they will stay open then. BTW: They have limited winter hours, closing at 4PM every day but Friday, when they are open until 8PM? Keith

Sfreader- Thanks for the update! It sounds like if I want to make sure I eat there, I better do it this year.

The Wheel Inn used to have a decent breaded pork tenderloin.

Hey Paul A very very thin layer of peanut butter on a turkey sandwich or many other meat sandwichs adds flavor to the mix but heavy p b will over run the taste of the main item . Gary
