Kushner's Seafood in Takoma Park/Silver Spr MD Sun, 01/14/07 10:26 PM (permalink)
The was a restaurant near Flower Avenue and Piney Branch Road in Takoma Park MD, named Kushner's.

My parents took us there for getting good report cardsin the 60's and 70's.

Anyone remember this restaurant? Any recipes floating around?

YES! It was my family's favorite seafood restaurant. I loved their stuffed flounder and my dad used to get the fried oysters. It had beautiful knotty pine paneling inside. Sadly, it's been gone for many years. The whole neighborhood is different and not in a very good way.

I grew up in Langley, Virginia in the 50's and early 60's and remember going there as well and The Flagship (I remember those rum buns), O'Donnell's, Hogate's and Crisfield's? My Dad liked the Flagship the best...they had great stuffed flounder there, too. He also used to take me down where the oyster boats came in from the Bay and we'd sample at least a dozen from various Captains. Then we'd buy a bushel of the best tasting and go home and do an oyster roast in the backyard. I think they were like $5 a bushel back then!

I remember Kushner's!  I grew up in the DC metro area and lived all around and in the city for years and loved going to the seafood restaurants.  No recipes, though.  Sorry.

I remember Kushner's, just a stone's throw from the Flower Avenue Cinema.  I drove the shuttle bus at U of Md and paseed by there many, many times.
