Steak in Madison, WI

I had a wonderful steak, at least 1.5 inches thick, at a run-down looking place that appeared to be merely a bar, somewhere in madison WI a few years back. Bar was upstairs -- ie, the ground level - and I was served the steak downstairs. It was spectacular. Wondering if any of you know the name and address of the place? I was stupid enough not to record it when I left so i could revisit someday.

Sorry, TJ Jackson, I ran the question by my sister in Madison, and she wasn't familiar with such a place. She isn't really much of a steak-eater, though, so don't give up the search.

I've always had really good steaks at Toby's Supper Club in Madison. I'm sure that this isn't the same place you've described.

Thanks for the tip, but no.....this isn't it. I guess I'm gonna have to visit there again and cruise the streets....the bar sits on a lot that is either between two main streets or (can't remember) the same street divided into one direction and the other with this "business block" between them. I do recall that the upper level was purely and solely a dive-type bar and you descended the steps to a banquet facility below.

If you ever find it, be sure to post the name and location. You've got me curious now. Happy hunting!

There is a lower level called the Corral Room. No bones about it though, 'spectacular' indeed. I think the best around. Mmmmmmmmm.
