Wanted to do something special for my 100th post. So here are some sagacious statements that I thought I would share. These were compiled for me by a friend who knows about my food hobby. Enjoy! Meowzart __________________________________________________________________ I really don't think I need buns of steel. I'd be happy with buns of cinnamon. --Ellen DeGeneres Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread, and pumpkin pie. --Jim Davis, "Garfield" Sex is good, but not as good as fresh, sweet corn. --Garrison Keillor Forget love... I'd rather fall in chocolate! --Author Unknown One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. --Luciano Pavarotti The poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese. --G.K. Chesterton All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast. --John Gunther It's difficult to think anything but pleasant thoughts while eating a homegrown tomato. --Lewis Grizzard You can find your way across this country using burger joints the way a navigator uses stars. --Charles Kuralt Look, there's no metaphysics on earth like chocolates. --Fernando Pessoa Age does not diminish the extreme disappointment of having a scoop of ice cream fall from the cone. --Jim Fiebig Never eat more than you can lift. --Miss Piggy Cooking is at once child's play and adult joy. And, cooking done with care is an act of love. --Craig Clairborne Some say the glass is half empty, some say the glass is half full, I say, are you going to drink that? --Lisa Claymen Chemically speaking, chocolate really is the world's perfect food. --Michael Levine, nutrition researcher, as quoted in The Emperors of Chocolate: Inside the Secret World of Hershey and Mars There are four basic food groups, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and chocolate truffles. --Unknown Happy and successful cooking doesn't rely only on know-how; it comes from the heart, makes great demands on the palate and needs enthusiasm and a deep love of food to bring it to life. --Georges Blanc, from 'Ma Cuisine des Saisons' Food, like a loving touch or a glimpse of divine power, has that ability to comfort. --Norman Kolpas No one who cooks, cooks alone. Even at her most solitary, a cook in the kitchen is surrounded by generations of cooks past, the advice and menus of cooks present, the wisdom of cookbook writers. --Laurie Colwin Cooking is at once one of the simplest and most gratifying of the arts, but to cook well one must love and respect food. --Craig Claiborne The preparation of good food is merely another expression of art, one of the joys of civilized living... --Dione Lucas Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all. --Harriet Van Horne What I say is that, if a man really likes potatoes, he must be a pretty decent sort of fellow. --A. A. Milne There's nothing sexier than a poached pear with a perfect sorbet. --Lisa Hershey, The Art of the Plated Dessert

I always thought that Garrison Keillor was a bore, just more proof. Good quotes, thanks for the work.

In 'the tummy trilogy' by Calvin trillin(a must read for serious roadfoodaholics) he quotes Zero Mostel, who, when asked what he thought of Romanian-Jewish cooking(pass the schmaltz please), his reply was simple and somewhat tasteless....."that food has killed more jews than Hitler"

I believe it was Calvin Trillin who said, "Health food makes me sick!" Also, I forgot to add one to my list above. I use this as my sig in my email: "When you die, if you get a choice between going to regular heaven or pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It might be a trick, but if it's not, mmmmmmm, boy." --Deep Thought by Jack Handey quote:Originally posted by garykg6 In 'the tummy trilogy' by Calvin trillin(a must read for serious roadfoodaholics) he quotes Zero Mostel, who, when asked what he thought of Romanian-Jewish cooking(pass the schmaltz please), his reply was simple and somewhat tasteless....."that food has killed more jews than Hitler"

All of my favorite food quotes seem to come from Homer Simpson: Donuts! Is there anything they CAN'T do? Dear God, who, in your infinite wisdom, gave us TWO kinds of clam chowder.. Mmmmmmmm....floor pie! This donut has purple in the middle. Purple is a fruit. I wonder where Bart is? His dinner is getting all cold...and eaten. You can't go wrong with cocktail weenies...they come in this delicious red sauce. It looks like catsup. It tastes like catsup. But Brother, it ain't catsup! It's all because of my motivational techniques. Like donuts. And the possibility of more donuts to come.

I especially like the one episode where Homer goes to the file in his drawer at work (under 'D' for 'Donut') where he is frantically searching for his 'emergency donut' only to find and IOUOD (i.e. 'I owe you one donut. -- homer'). heh heh

A little quiz for the foodies: Who wrote, "...perhaps only one out of ten restaurants is good enough..." That little line comforts us when we've just suffered a really bad meal along the road - we know from the experts that our chances of getting something good are only one in ten.
