Can anyone taste a difference between the "big three" brands of saltines (Premium, Zesta and Krispy?) Or even the store-brands? I can't. But I have friends who will only buy one of the big brands--even if it means going to different grocery stores to find them (not all stores around here sell Zesta, for example).

I prefer Zesta to store brands...but otherwise...the big 3 taste pretty much the same :-)

I like Premium the best, but when they are not on sale, I buy the Kroger brand. Although they are not as good, they are not bad. Kroger's wheat saltines are pretty good, as well. I have had some really bad generic saltines, but I don't recall the brand names {probably because they were so forgettable}.

1 choice - Krispy - crispier than the other 2 2 choice - Premium - better amount of salt than the other 2 3 choice - Zesta more dough-y tasting than the other 2 I had this conversation once with my late, great mother.

I have to vote for Premium over Zesta - and I do taste a difference. Not so sure about Krispy.

I've never realy thought about that before. I guess I'm like you, where I haven't noticed a difference. I suppose I usually buy Premium, just because my mother bought them often, but then, it could just be that they were on sale at the time. It may be time for a side by side taste test!

Since I RARELY eat saltines I just buy the cheapest box...but now I'm curious about the other ones. One way I used to LOVE eating them when I was really young was grabbing a sleeve and making them into little sandwiches smothered with butter. That was my cousin's and my snack when we were at my grandmother's.

Sounds like it time for a taste test. That's how we decided on which PB,crackers & bread to use. BTW we prefer Premium as they had more salt = tasty then the others.
