Anyone ever hear of this place? It's downtown. It opened in 1991, but for some reason, it doesn't sound familiar. My dad is taking me there tonight. If you've been there, I'd love to get a preview. Thanks.

Wow - no one has ever been there? Either that means it's really terrible, or I'm about to discover a treasure. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Very tasty thin pizza. The crust had a nice crunch, and the cheese was high quality. Definitely comparable to the thin crust at Lou Malnati's - I may like it better. Too noisy, though (we went to the one on Madison).

Ok, I may be late here...how was it?

Pizano's is an off-shoot of Lou Malnati's...same family. They only have about 3 locations (a Wrigleyville location closed last year). Personally, in my only visit to the now-closed location, I found the thin crust pizza pretty bland with a tough biscuit-y crust. Last fall there was an article in USA Today that named it one of the 10 best in the USA... . http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/10great/2006-10-12-pizza-places_x.htm

See above for my review. USA Today says top 10 in U.S.? I doubt it. I have trouble believing any Chicago thin pizza can be top 10 in the U.S. My guess is a true top-10 list of best thin pizza would be all places in New York and New England. Chicago is best at stuffed and deep dish.

              Rosati's?!

Pizano's is owned by Rudi Malnati Jr. brother of Lou and son of Rudy Malnati that probably was the inventor of deep dish pizza in the 1940's (his boss Ike Sewell gets the credit, but do you believe a Texan named Ike Sewell invented it or a guy named Rudi Malnati, an Italian?)
