I got it from my weekly Food section from the newspaper a couple of years ago and I barely decided to make it today. It's really just a baked pancake. It was really tasty, but please note: it's 1 large serving for one person or 2 small servings for 2 people.

Baked German (aka Dutch Baby)
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup allpurpose flour
2 T butter, melted
Powdered sugar
Fresh berries or other fruits

Preheat oven to 400
Butter a 10in. skillet or 10in. pie pan
Whisk together eggs and milk till well blended
Add flour and whisk until thoroughly blended
Whisk in melted butter until blended and smooth
Pour batter into pan
Bake 20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and berries

I didn't have berries on hand so I went ahead and served it with powdered sugar and syrup; it was just as tasty. When you pull it out of the oven it's puffed up really nice and high. My daughter really enjoyed it, too. But like I said, it's not enough to feed four adults.

My mom LOVED these---especially apple ones. She had a favorite little restaraunt--the name of which i cant remember-on rte 1 near Walpole Mass, that made them--and one of her favorite things to do was take her granddaughters out there for breakfast--since she didn't drive, i was recruited a lot---Thanks for bring this up and rekindleing a great memory!

That's correct, Ciaoman. Bickford's has a "Big Apple Pancake" on their breakfast menu. Not sure how it compares to the Baked German that the original poster wrote about, but it sure is good.

There was a restaurant outside of Mpls that served pannekoeken (Dutch Pancake) and the restaurant was called Pannekoeken's. I remember all the wait staff were dressed as little dutch girls and would run to your table with the pannekoken to get it there before it deflated.
