Lobster prices

FYI everyone, Lobster prices here in NE are near record highs. The most frequently given reasons are the canadians shipping more overseas and the fact the critters haven't come in from their off shore hideouts. The in shore waters haven't warmed up enough yet. That, combined with high gas prices for the boats, means lobster will be a bit pricier than usual this spring. Can't wait for that global warming to kick in. We have tickets for Fenway Thursday and will probably be snowed out. *sigh*

I asked the price of lobster in a seafood restaurant in Richmond Va and the waiter told me that the price had skyrocketed the Thursday before Easter. It was $29.95 per pound! (My banker was not with me so I did not have lobster.) At the nearest supermarket to us, I see where the price has gone from $11.95 to $16.95 per pound.

Wholesale chicks are $13.75 a lb., 1 3/4# to 3 are $14.95 and then they climb untill you get to the offshore bugs. We will see if this nor easter were having will stir things up a bit. Good thing is many guys are just setting it out, all the pots are on shore so no loss of equipment. Chow Jim
