I would have to say that my favorite childhood candy was the Mars Bar. Now... NOT the Mars bar they have out now, but the Mars Bar from the '70's. Think of an oversized 3 Musketeers Bar, but filled with a vanilla nougat, similar to the way it is now EXCEPT that all the almonds were whole, and rested onto of the candybar, much like an Almond Joy. (I didn't like almonds, so I use to just pick them off the top, and go to town!)

Has anyone mentioned Necco Assorted Wafers? It was one of my favorites! They still have them in some stores and I grab them when I can.

when I was a young kid, I'd play "priest" and do mass. I'd always use Necco wafers as the eucharist.
Never did I laugh so hard, when years later, I was in college and I handed my buddy a Necco wafer and he put it in his mouth and gave the sign of the cross.
I looked at him a little funny, and he laughed "sorry, habit!"

PS I still love those little wafers. I like the chocolate ones best, but assorted is always OK in my book.

and the homemade candy those little old ladies used to make at millencourt a little candy store near where i grew up where everything was fresh made except the jelly candies which were delicious anyway.

I also need help in finding the name of a candy. I got it at a Suncoast one time and it was Japanese. It tasted like soda and it fizzed in your mouth when it touched your tounge. My dad said there is an American version of it but he cannot recall the name. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

They were 25 cents (plus one cent for tax) when I started buying candy bars in the late 1970s. I guess they go for $1 now. Obviously, I have a lot more money today than I did in 1978, but I still feel like $1 is too much to pay for a candy bar.

chocolate Ice Cubes, my grandma use to keep a few boxes in her refridgerater the cost like 2 cent back then (cir 1965) once in a while I will see them on the counter at the party store for 40 cents a piece.
