Maine Blueberries Mon, 08/11/03 8:09 AM (permalink)
As I was traveling from New Brunswick to Maine, I noticed an incredible amount of blueberry fields. I would drive past them slowly and I noticed that the tops were a beautiful blue. I noticed that some were advertised as wild maine blueberries while others were just blueberries. I do not know the difference or if there is any. It appears that the harvest was excellent this year.

Regardless I had to have some. The stand which was located next to a huge field sold them by the pint and they were $5.00. He told me they had just picked them and the sugar content would be very high. I stopped at the next convenience store, washed them off and bought apint of Cows vanilla ice cream. Excellent.

I spent the night in Portland ME and I had fresh blueberry pancakes, blueberry muffins, soft serve blueberry ice cream in Bar Harbor, blueberries and cream. I had so many blueberries, I am surprised that I did not turn a shade of blueberry purple.
