I'm not a fan of canned soups, but Costco was passing out samples of this soup, and I have to admit, it is pretty good! Just top it off with some crushed Tostitos, and it's good to go. Not as good as our culinary school's version, but a lot better than what I could do.

I haven't tried the Tortilla soup, but the Campbell Select Butternut Squash soup and their Mushroom soup is amazing! Thanks for the referral, I will try that one next

I'm a big fan of Campbell's "Select" soups. They are quite good, coming as they are, out of a can.
I really enjoy them mostly in the winter.
Their clam chowder is very good. I usually "doctor" it up by adding a can of chopped clams and fresh parsley at the end of the cooking time. The "Italian Wedding Soup" is very good too.

So you guys wouldn't hesitate to serve them as a meal at your own table? I haven't tried them, but judging by what you guys are saying, I think I'll give them a try.

I actually did serve the butternut squash one, but as a cold soup with a drizzle of sour cream on top, and threw some chopped chives on that. it was fantastic.

I'd reather be tarred and feathered before I'd buy a canned soup and actually eat it and serve it. YUCK.

Well, I do use canned soups for casseroles and stuff, but I rarely will buy it to just eat.

I bought some Wolfgang Puck's chowder once and it was full of sand! I couldn't believe it!

I agree. I rarely ever buy any canned soups. Why, if you can make your own in little time? And, way better quality ingredients, and less sodium?

With fresh/or seasonal produce and herbs available year 'round, why not make your own?

I would much rather be able to make a great soup then buy it as well, but for that kind of soup I would imagine you need a food processor or at least a blender, and at this time I have neither. I don't pass it off as my own though, I tell my guests what it is after they say how good it is.

Why? Because there are some days you are too busy hauling kids to piano lessons, dance classes, running errands for your husband, and picking up clothes at the dry cleaners, and once you get home you only have an hour to unload groceries, eat, wash the dishes, and get to the concert or recital in time.

I can usually get 2 lunch portons out a can with the sandwich i take.

I add a little fresh cilantro, some Chilulo sauce and cheese at the end and the Tortilla soup is a great meal.

I cook A LOT, but soups of that sort, unless I gear up for a big event, are easier to dabble in if canned.

BTW, the Campbell's wedding soup is good as well (albiet a bit salty), but I cut it with a water to spread out the saline content per serving.

                          Good luck.

I bought a can of the Tortilla Soup last week but haven't eaten yet.

many gems i learned while learning to cook in a commercial restaurant, "if it tastes as good as ma campbell you are doing something right".

A simple hamburger soup is very easy to make and much better then any soup from a can. That being said, sometimes a person is just out of time and energy. I do have to say, soup out of a can...they all taste the same to me if you know what I mean. They all have the same background flavor.

I definitely agree with the people that like the Tortilla Soup...its so good! Another one to try is the Campbells Chunky Chicken and Sausage Gumbo...its got a spicy kick but it's very tasty as well. Italian Wedding is good too! The only Campbells flavors I won't have are the chicken noodle/rice/stars kind...When I want that I go for Progresso.
