Baked Potato - Eat the Skin ??

Love the skins. My wife seldom eats the skins and I think she leaves the best part uneaten.

When ordering in a restaurant, I always ask if the pototoes are baked "naked" or wrapped in foil.

While most foil-wrapped baked potatoes taste inferior to the "naked" baked, there's also the potential of botulism if mishandled by the restaurant staff.

That said, I fondly remember the foil-wrapped, slightly charred spuds that were fished out of the coals of campfires, buttered, salted and immediately consumed when I was a child.

The skin is the best part.

Yes indeedy, I eat it all. As they once said somewhere in the jazz world, "Skin is IN!"
My mother always told me that the only place the vitamins were in potatoes was in the flesh adjacent to the skin. She would bake potatoes and make me throw away all but the closest part of the innards.
Nowadays, I eat the whole potato -- but not as often, since I'm working on losing weight, and I love my baked spud with both butter AND sour cream.
Here's to the farmers of Idaho, Maine, AND Florida! (After all, there is a non-post-officed town near Hastings, below Palatka, named Spuds. They grow a mess of potatoes in Putnam County, Florida.)

I am pretty disgusting about eating baked potatoes, I have to admit. I open them up, add in salt, ketchup, and a little bit of butter, and then I mash the inside. I scoop out the mashed potato mixure, eat most of it, and then add more ketchup, pick the skin up, and eat it. It is barbaric. Thankfully for those that know me, I don't eat baked potatoes that often.

Sounds pretty normal to me except for the ketchup, but I won't knock it 'till I try it.

lol, it's the ketchup that grosses everyone out. OR when I mash in sour cream and barbeque sauce, or A1. People think that's gross too!

Well... as long as it is jalapeño whiskey ketchup. Then it's ok.

I would try that if I didn't have a toilet hugging whiskey experience and if even a bottle reminiscent of whiskey makes me ill to look at.

I do love, love jalapenos raw as a garnish. I love hot food.

Wow, that part about botulisim is scary. I remember leaving trays of wrapped left over bakers on top of the grill. They were used the next day or so for skins.
Also even if the dirt was sanitized by the baking process, a mouthfull of mud would be a big turn off to the meal(the skin never "going the distance" with the rest of the meal).
